The Tradition Continues...
After the closing of Coley's in November 1987, there were a few of us that Russel and Henry called for a little get- together at Russel's the day after Thannksgiving 1988. We drank some beer, ate some chili, and chewed the fat. We continued meeting at Russel's every year until Henry passed away in 1995. It was decided that we would not meet that year.
The following year Chuck Lutton, Lynn Poplin, and Bill Wohlwend put together a small chili eating and beer drinking party on the site of the original Coley's.The word got passed around and on the Friday after Thanksgiving, 40 or so of us, including Russel and Kim gathered and had a geat time.
The seed was planted, and the Coley's Stag Reunion Committee was formed with the help of the Carrollton Civic Club. At the 1997 reunion we were overwhelmed with a turnout of over 500. In 1998, we had another small gathering held outside the back of Sweeney's Furniture.
The Coley's Stag Reunion is held annually the Friday after Thanksgiving at Long's Storage Units 921 Canton Road, Carrollton, Ohio.Plan to attend to see old friends and to make new ones.
Continue to follow the Coley's Stag web site for upcoming reunion news.

The Reunion building is located at 921 Canton Rd., Carrollton, and was made possible by the generosity of Jim Long and his family. A replica Coley's Stag sign was erected at the building earlier this year. Mel Wacker Sign Company of Massillon removed the sign from the former Ed Long building on 2nd St. SE., and installed it along Canton Rd.
The sign is a reproduction of the original sign that hung in front of the Stag on Main St. Through the craftsmanship of Jim Myers, he and his employees manufactured the sign which is the exact size of the original. The paint and neon work was made and placed by the late Wayne Price, his son and other employees. The Price family still attends the reunion every year.
The Reunion started as a small gathering of around 30 people at the Main St. location and moved to Sweeney's parking lot in 1996, then to the old C&K Shoe Store, owned by Tom and Cindy Johnson, in 1997. The following year, Jim Long offered the use of his tractor repair shop at 92 2nd St. SE. The reunion continued there and continued to grow each year, outgrowing the facility. Long built the new location on Canton Rd.
The event has grown to an estimated 1000 patrons this year, and continues to grow. From the sale of chili bowls, ham sandwiches, "HOT" chili, bean soup and a favorite beverage, the Reunion has provided over $65,000 in scholarships to Carrollton High School (CHS) seniors.
For the first time, the Coley's Stag Reunion Committee has joined the Carroll County Foundation/Stark Community Foundation. The committee hopes to have donation packets and envelopes for anyone wishing to donate to the Russel and Henry Cole Scholarship Fund. All money will be invested and the proceeds used for scholarships for the CHS seniors. For more information, contact any committee member, or Email us at email@example.com.
"There are many people and businesses who have supported the Reunion over the years and we owe them greatly," committee members stated. "But, the biggest thank you goes to the Cole Family. We could not have done this without their continued support."
Looking forward to seeing everyone Nov.23, 2017.
